Canada Goose

(Above) Canada Goose with Barnacle Geese, Lough Gill, Co.Kerry, 20th January, 2005. One of the smaller, darker races, a little larger than Barnacle Goose, with small bill, proportionally short neck, dark body (particularly flanks), and slightly paler breast. American Herring Gull

Although showing overall dark plumage and very dark tail, some features seem inconsistent with Smithsonianus, including relatively 'weak' head and bill structure, regularly patterned scapulars and slightly blotchy dark underparts.
